Brief
Hover-Balls are able to make props float at a set height. Numpad keys are chosen to control upward and downward motion, and the hover-ball is attached to the prop where the user fires. The visibility of hover-balls can be toggled under Visual Settings in the spawn menu.
Instructions
Primary fire places a hover-ball on the prop you are aiming at. The balls can be raised or lowered using the numpad keys they are bound to.
Variables
- Speed (Slider)
- How fast the hover-balls move up or down.
- Up (Key Selector)
- The key that makes the hover-balls ascend.
- Down (Key Selector)
- The key that makes the hover-balls descend.
- Air Resistance (Slider)
- The higher the value, the quicker the hover-balls will slow down once set in motion.
Useful hints
- Each hover-ball can lift a certain amount, so on heavy props you will need to use many, or toggle its gravity off using the physical properties tool.
- Each hover-ball has a height at which it _tries_ to stay. This means that hover-balls can be knocked around or weighed down and will then attempt to regain their set height. The further a hover-ball is from its height, the harder it will work to get there.
- When playing online, the temptation to attach hover-balls to an airboat and fly around should be resisted as this is widely viewed as the most basic and least respectable form of contraption-making. In fact, hover-balls are largely frowned upon when it comes to plane-like contraptions since they are so easy to use and yield unrealistic results.
