Type: | Post processing effect |
Notes: | A post processing effect that opens a pop-up in game to create high quality blurring around objects. |
Brief
This post processing effect will blur objects that are not in focus mimicking the behaviour of a camera lens. Objects around the focal point will get sharp, while objects farther away from the focal point will get blurry.
Variables
- Open Window (Button)
- Opens the pop-up with more options.
- Focus (Slider)
- In game units, how far the focal point is from your current location.
- Blur Size (Slider)
- How much to blur the objects that aren't in focus.
- Screenshot (Button)
- Takes a screenshot of the current view without the pop-up DoF options box. Images are saved by default to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\[Your Steam Account Name]\garrysmod\garrysmod\screenshots
- Preview (Button)
- Changes the mode to the default, low frame rate version of DoF.
- Render Quick (Button)
- Creates a crude, static image of the scene with minimal smoothing between nodes.
- Render Quality (Button)
- Creates a nice, well smoothed image with proper blurring.
Useful hints
- Right-Click by default changes the focus point to where you clicked.
- Don't over do it, only really big lenses, like Telephoto lenses, that are able to zoom in really close create a high Depth of Field. -Focusing on an object really far away and an object really close should be blurry and vice-versa.
- Use just the camera tool to line up your shot, sometimes the frame rates in "Preview" mode can get frustrating. One the shot is lined up, then bring up the pop-up Super DoF options box and adjust to the necessary focal distance and blur, then hit "Render Quality" to get the best smooth results.
