Type: | Construction tool |
Primary fire: | Attach a roped balloon. |
Secondary fire: | Create a balloon with no constraints. |
Notes: | Balloons constantly pull upward (or downward) with a set amount of force. |
Brief
Balloons are attached to props, ragdolls, or the map with a rope and constantly exert either an upward or downward force.
Instructions
With the balloon tool selected, click anywhere to create a balloon on a rope attached to that point.
Variables
- Power
- The force that the balloon exerts. A positive number means the balloon will float, a negative number will make the balloon sink.
- Color
- The color of the balloon. This has no effect on the balloon's performance.
Useful hints
- Floating balloons are great for things like airships, robots (it helps them stand up), or elevators. Sinking balloons work well as ballast for submarine-like contraptions.
- Deleting a prop leaves all of the balloons that were attached to it. This is handy if you want balloons without ropes so that you can attach them to props using different constraints.
- Balloons often cause instability since they wobble around on their ropes so much. To counteract this, finish your contraption and make sure it's perfectly level. Then click on the balloons with the physgun rhythmically until they are perfectly stationary. Then weld them to the contraption so they don't wobble.
- Balloons should be added last to the contraption since they work best when set so that they perfectly counter the contraption's weight. Remember you can change a balloon's power simply by clicking on it with the tool gun rather than deleting it and making a new one.
