Secondary fire: | Place Hydraulic perpendicular to surface |
Notes: | - |
Brief
Constrains props and ragdolls with a hydraulic that toggles between two different lengths whenever you press the bound key
Instructions
With primary fire, place a starting point and ending point to create a hydraulic between them, then press the bound key to make it expand/contract. The secondary fire places a hydraulic pointing straight out from the target surface, attached to the first thing the constraint hits.
Variables
- Key
- If this key is pressed, the hydraulic will expand/contract.
- Additional Length
- The amount that the hydraulic's length will change when it's key is pressed. A positive number will make it increase on the first press, a negative number will make it decrease.
- Speed
- How quickly the hydraulic changes length.
- Rope Width
- The width of the rope between the two constrained objects.
- Fixed
- Freezes the angular orientation of the two constrained objects. On by default.
Useful hints
- Fixed hydraulics are notorious for causing spazzing or the "black hole effect". Even simple contraptions, such as two props joined with a fixed hydraulic, can sometimes become unmanageable. To avoid this, it is often possible to replace a single fixed hydraulic with multiple unfixed hydraulics to achieve the same result and with far more stability.
- The hydraulic constraint is a useful tool in constructing any object that needs to toggle back and forth between two points. Examples of this include elevators or lifts, traps, doors (usually with the fixed option unchecked), or anything else that might need a repetitive motion.
