Requirements
These are the tools you will need to complete this tutorial:
- A 3D modeling application
- Blender (Free, what I will be using for this tutorial)
- XSI (Softimage Mod Tool) (Free Trial)
- 3DS Max (Commercial)
- Maya (Commercial)
- Milkshape (Free)
- Google SketchUp (Free, easy to learn)
- Blender (Free, what I will be using for this tutorial)
- Access to a Windows (XP, Vista, 7) Computer
- Source SDK (Free through Steam under Library, Tools)
If you are using an application other than Blender and have all of the above, proceed to Exporting.
Modelling
For Blender, the modeling process is simple, if you know how to use blender. For those uninitiated, Blender's interface is known for being complex and difficult to use, although the 2.5x beta versions remedy this some.
If you are using blender, I highly recommend the 2.56 Beta version.
