Page white text.png Notes:-

1. Create a wheel with the following properties and attach it to the ground. If you're trying to build a fort or something comparable, you need to put this wheel wherever you deem necessary for the most tactical value. For sake of simplicity, I used 4 and 6 for this wheel. This wheel will serve the purpose of rotating our turret on the X axis.

SettingValue
ModelAPC Wheel
Torque500
Force Limit0
Friction30
No CollideTrue
ToggleFalse

2. Spawn an APC Wheel from your spawn list. Note: This does not have a wheel constraint modified to this, you are just spawning it as a prop. Put it somewhere out of the way, as you will be needing it in a moment. We shall call this our "Control" wheel.

3. Spawn another APC Wheel (this time using a wheel constraint), and attach it to the control wheel. Use the same settings as the first wheel we made, except change your controls for the wheel to something like 8 and 2. This wheel will rotate our turret on the Y axis.

4. Using the physics gun, move this set of two wheels to the x axis wheel, and try to center it above the x wheel. Also, for aesthetics, try to get the set of wheels as close as you can to the bottom wheel while maintaining a small gap. When you feel you have it centered, ensure both wheels still spin freely by using 4 and 6 for x rotation, and 8 and 2 for y rotation. Once you have ensured both wheels spin freely and independently of one another, you will weld the Control wheel to the base wheel. Make sure you unfreeze the control wheel if you froze it during the line-up process.

5. Now it is time to create our turret itself. For the turret, I used a toggle-type, just because it seems to make it easier to aim and fire at the same time. I picked 5 for the turret number, because its right in the middle. And of course, the shoot sound and tracer were just my personal preferences. I've found that its easiest for me to aim using the "Laser" tracer.Once you set the settings below, spawn a turret.

SettingValue
Bullets per shot1
Damage10
Bullet spread0.1
Bullet force1
Delay0.01

6. Once you have your turret spawned, you simply need to easy weld it to the Y wheel on the rotator. Make sure you get the orientation right on the turret, and make sure it faces outward, otherwise your gun will be pretty useless.

7. This step, as well as the next, are optional, but I've found it makes it easier to control the turret. Spawn an RT camera and set it to show the monitor on the hud. If you haven't yet done so, you will need to set the location of the monitor by clicking the designated button. Move the window around, then click X when you're satisfied with its position and sizing.

8. Easy weld the side of the RT camera to the Y wheel on the rotator, just above the turret. Its generally a good idea to make sure the turret and the camera are facing the same direction, if you're trying to use the camera to aim it, that is.

Thats it! Now just rotate the assembly using the buttons you've defined, using the RT camera to assist in aiming (if you added that bit), and fire! Have fun with this contraption, I know I have.

Helpful tips: Try building this on a tall tower of a fortress or building, its much more effective there, provided your turret spread isn't too high.
