Messy

Okay seriously, what the hell is this crap? You call this a guide? This page provides plenty of unformatted, useless information that has very little to do with actually helping new server owners set up sv_downloadurl on their servers. I wasn't able to learn anything from this page, because it was so confusing as to what folders I actually needed to upload, and which ones I didn't. Far better would be a list of exactly what folder needs to be uploaded, and a tutorial on how to get this done easily, like by using SourceRSC or something.
I'm really not sure where to start, and I don't have time to fix this myself before I leave, so I have to settle for tagging the article and putting a mini rant here explaining why this needs to be fixed. So if you think you can improve this article, go ahead and try, it's not like it can get much worse. Lx45803 00:31, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Hahaha, This article was actually some copy/paste from an old forum where I was explaining what everything did, it was also written like a year ago when I didn't really understand servers as well as I do now.
I don't know why it was titled "Setting Up" when it is mainly just an explaination.
When my arm is out of a splint I'll do something with this horrid article I made.

Cleaned up

I've rewrote it, so it's looking all good now.

Reformatting

I plan to reformat and tidy up this article within 48 hours. I added the "mess" template until I've done such. KnowledgeJunkie 12:07, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Server.cfg

Is "sv_allowupload 1" really needed? Reason I ask is allot of srcds servers have been breached due to having this option turned on.

Nope, not needed whatsoever. --Teddi 16:52, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Common misunderstandings

I have made my own PHP-based FastDL system, and I feel the need to correct 2 errors in the article:
1.The URL doesn't need a trailing slash, if it's missing it will be added automatically by the engine when it requests the file.
2. The URL doesn't need to end in garrysmod either, it can have any kind of form and the requested file path will be added at the end. For example, here's the URL for my FastDL:
Perfectly valid.
