Brief
The Colour tool modifies the colour properties of a prop.
Instructions
- Press and hold the "Q" key to bring up the main menu.
- On the right hand side of the screen under the "Garry's Mod" tab, select the colour tool from the menu.
- Adjust the tool's controls to your liking and release the "Q" key.
- Apply the specified colour settings to a prop using the primary fire button.
- Remove any colour settings from a prop using the secondary fire button.
Variables
- Presets
- A drop down menu used to save and restore a collection of settings for the colour tool.
- Colour
- A series of controls used to manipulate hue, saturation, brightness, and opacity.
- Render Mode
- A drop down menu used to select the render mode to be used when applying the specified colour settings.
- Normal - Affects only color.
- Transparent - Colour - Affects both color and transparency.
- Transparent - Texture - ??? Seems to be the same as Transparent - Colour ???
- Glow - ??? Seems to be the same as Transparent - Colour ???
- Transparent - Alpha - ??? Seems to be the same as Transparent - Colour ???
- Transparent - Add - ??? Seems to be the same as Transparent - Colour ???

- World Glow - ??? Seems to be the same as Transparent - Colour ???
- Render FX
- A drop down menu used to select additional render effects to be used when applying the specified colour settings.
- None - No special effects are applied.
- Pulse Slow - The transparency of a prop slowly pulses slightly.
- Pulse Fast - The transparency of a prop quickly pulses slightly.
- Pulse Slow Wide - The transparency of a prop slowly pulses dramatically.
- Pulse Fast Wide - The transparency of a prop slowly pulses slightly.
- Fade Slow - The transparency of a prop slowly fades from the specified alpha to zero.
- Fade Fast - The transparency of a prop quickly fades from the specified alpha to zero.
- Solid Slow - The opposite of Fade Slow.
- Solid Fast - The opposite of Fade Fast.
- Strobe Slow - The transparency of a prop strobes slowly.
- Strobe Fast - The transparency of a prop strobes quickly.
- Strobe Faster - The transparency of a prop strobes wildly.
- Flicker Slow - The transparency of a prop flickers slowly.
- Flicker Fast - The transparencly of a prop flickers quickly.
- Distort - ??? It flickers but I don't see the relationship between the name and what it does ???
- Hologram - The transparency of a prop strobes very quickly.
- Pulse Fast Wider - ??? Doesn't seem to do anything ???
Useful hints
- To make a prop invisible, set the alpha to zero and select "Transparent - Colour" under Render Mode.
- For some strange reason the settings under Render FX don't take effect unless the prop has also been manipulated with the Material tool.
