Brief
The rope tool is quite straight forward, you click on two entities and it creates a rope between them. It can snap if too much force is applied (if the force limit is above 0) and will swing around with the object if the object it's attached to is moving.
Instructions
- Place the start of the rope on any entity.
- Place the end of the rope on another entity.
Note: Any part of the world can also be used, though attaching the world to another part of the world will not have any affect.
A rope is created between the two points. Note that a rope is only a visual representation of the constraint between two objects; the rope itself cannot be interacted with and passes through all objects, including the ones it is attached to.
Variables
- Rope Type
- Determines what the rope looks like.
- Rope Width
- How big/wide the rope appears.Scaling page for more info.)
- Extra Rope Length
- Adds slack to the rope, or makes it more tightens with negative numbers.
- Force Limit
- The amount of force (in pounds) that it takes to break the rope.
- Rigid Rope
- Toggling this on makes the rope act more like a rigid pole; the two objects cannot move closer to each other in addition to not being able to move further apart.
Useful hints
- Using the rope tool on a flat surface allows you to create fun line art to decorate your contraptions!
- Try using the rope tool to add detail to your contraptions, such as power lines and other such little things.
